Fashion object, luxury object, lifestyle object… What happens to the object when it becomes necessary to consume less? LEHERPEURPARIS presents ARTIS FACTA, a series of reflection exploring the evolving role of the creative Object in a post-transition world.
The economist Philippe Dessertine argues, "Our economic system is outdated in the face of rapid population growth and climate disruption." In his book Le Grand Basculement, he describes the end of a cycle and the beginning of a widespread reinvention. On the other hand, engineer and Professor Jean-Marc Jancovici forecasts the end of an era regarding energy management and climate change. He brings attention to the emerging economic, ecological, and societal challenges, noting that when resources become limited, we will naturally be forced to make choices and prioritize, starting with what is essential and then what is useful.
In this context, what holds value? Every object that is designed, crafted, sold, and purchased has an impact, but it also carries meaning: it can be useful to its user, showcase craftsmanship, drive human progress, or even stir emotions. As a dedicated consultancy firm in luxury, fashion, beauty and lifestyle, LeherpeurParis embarks on a new journey of research and reflection centered on the Object with a capital "O' to provide designers, luxury houses and brands with strategies to navigate the post-transition world.
For the first phase of this journey, LeherpeurParis presents “ARTIS FACTA: de l’Art
au Craft et Vice-versa”, an event aimed at exploring the Object in the post-transition
world from a symbolic, creative, and philosophical perspective and hosted at their
offices during Paris Design Week.
Artist and curator Sylvia Sanchez Montoya is given the floor to showcase her works
alongside three artists from Mallorca’s new wave: Marta Armengol, Sara Regal, and
Claire O’Keefe, in collaboration with ADÈLE Collections, a design studio for
decorative materials.
Through their lens, the object becomes a manifesto: it reflects the materials,
manufacturing techniques and the societal vision of its creators. It shifts from simply
being a product of consumption to a "signal object."
LeherpeurParis will follow up with phase 2, a series of studies examining the shifting
dynamics of our relation to the object within the fashion, luxury, and jewelry
industries.
This analysis will delve into how the object of tomorrow establishes an enduring bond
between its creator and its user. What are the new emotional factors that contribute
to an object's longevity, making it more valuable and protected, rather than merely
substituted? What are the objects that matter today, and what gives them
significance?
